MISS MELVILLE AGAIN STANDING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, July 26. A meeting of women, at which about 400 were present, selected Miss Melville, member of the City Council, to stand for Parliament and to contest either the Parnell or Roskill seat. Miss Melville announced that she would stand as an Independent, voting for the present Government in a no confidence motion, though the Reform leader would not support her. [At the last election in 1919, Miss Melville stood for Grey Lynn. The voting was: Bartram (Labor) 3141. Melville (Reform) 2660, Hon. G. Fowlds (Liberal) 2405, Garmston (Independent Reform) 214, P. Richardson (M.L.) 180.]
