FARMERS’ FIRE INSURANCE.

THE TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Taranaki Farmers’ Mutual Life Insurance Association was held in the Town Hall, Eltham, yesterday. The proceedings were held in camera. It was afterwards reported that the old directors had been elected, viz., Messrs. C. J. Belcher, J. Best, J. Christoffel, H. D. Forsyth, R. Lambie, E. Maxwell, and H. G. Gibson. At a subsequent meeting of the directors Mr. H. D. Fo.rsyth was elected chairman for the ensuing year. Mr. E. Perrott was reappointed auditor at the usual fee. A resolution was passed recommending the committee to consider the question of publishing the balance sheet and distributing it at least seven days before the annual meetings. The balance sheet showed a profit on the year’s workings despite heavy losses by fire. The assets amounted to £64,813 7s lid, and the insurances held to £1,008,271. Several of those present spoke in congratulatory terms of the success achieved by the association during one of the worst years, as far as fire was concerned, since its inception.
