BRITISH POLITICS.

PLEA FOR A CHANGE. LORD R. CECIL’S VIEWS. By Telegrnpli.— Pross Assn.- — Copyright. Received July 23, 5.5 p.m. London, July 22. Lord Robert Cecil (Coalition-Unionist), addressing a Liberal meeting, said his presence did not mean there was any break with his past opinions, but it involved a declaration that the public interest demanded the displacement of the present Government, because it had lowered the standard of public life. The bestowal of peerages for contributions to the party funds was corruption. Referring to industrial matters, Lord Robert expressed the opinion that no real settlement was attainable unless the workers received a share in the management and control. — Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
