Eastern Sea, from New York, end of August. PORT CHALMERS IN PORT. The C. and D. liner Port Chalmers arrived off New Plymouth at 4 a.m. yesterday. She was boarded by the harbormaster (Captain Wm. Waller) at 6.45 and brought alongside, with a stiff southerly blowing, within an hour. The Port Chalmers is a twin-screw vessel of 6534 tons gross. Her other principal -dimensions are: Length 468 feet (over all), breadth 55.3 feet, and depth 30.4 feet. She was built in 1907. Her draught on entering the port was IS feet forward and 22 feet 8 Inches aft. Captain R. C. Caw is in command, and associated with him are the following officers: Chief, Mr. J. Bradley : second, Mr. E. Cutchbole; third, Mr. A. Neismith; fourth, Mr. J. Harris: chief engineer, Mr. W. Young; second, Mr. S. Neall; third, Mr. F. Wake; fourth, Mr. W. Stouthers; fifth, Mr. F. Sampson ; first refrigerating engineer. Mr. W. Mackay; second, Mr. G. Purvis; wireless operator, Mr. W. Dasse; chief steward, Mr. W. Bradley; cadets, S. Barrett and W. Gorman. The work of loading was commenced at 8 a.m. The cargo to be lifted from here comprises 17.000 freight carcases of frozen meat, 13,600 boxes of butter, and 150 of wool. The vessel is due to sail for the Wanganui roadstead on Thursday in continuance of Homeward loading. CORINNA ARRIVES. The Corinna, with 1000 tons of southern cargo, arrived yesterday morning and commenced discharge. To-day she is to load 9000 crates of cheese for H.<ineward transhipment to the Wliangaratia at Wellington, for which port she is to sail at 5 o’clock this afternoon. KATOA THIS AFTERNOON. The Katoa, with 400 tons of cement from Whangarei, is expected at. New Plymouth at 4 p.m. to-day, and will occupy the Corinna's berth on the departure of that vessel for Wellington. PIAKO ON WEDNESDAY. The Union Company advise that the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Piako will leave the Wanganui roadstead on Tuesday for New Plymouth, arriving here the following morning. She will load 15,000 freight carcases of frozen meat for West Coast of England WAIMEA DELAYED. Owing to delay caused at Westport, the Waimea, which is bringing 350 tons of Brookdale coal to New Plyunouth, is now not due here litl Wednesday. SAN FRANCISCO SERVICE, A Washington cable says: The Oceanic Steamship Company informed the Congressional Maritime Committee that the company intends to build two 10,000 ton passenger, mail and cargo vessels driven by Diesel engines. having a si>eed of seventeen' knots, for the Pacific routes. REPAIRING THE RONA. Clare and Warner, of Auckland, and Stevenson and Cook, Port Chalmers, are the successful tenderers for the repairs to the steamer Rona. The amount of the tender is not disclosed, but it is in the vicinity of £50,000. OVERSEA MOVEMENTS. London. July 20. —Arrivals: At London, lonic; at Manchester, Queen Margaret.
