HUNTING.

NORTH TARANAKI HOUNDS. MEET AT SENTRY HILL. The North Taranaki Hunt held a meet at Mr. and Dlrs. F. H. Sampson’s property at Sentry Hill on Thursday afternoon. There was a good attendance of spectators and followers, the ranks of the latter having been increased by a number of racehorses, including Simon, Paul Pry, and Object, who are qualifying in view of the forthcoming steeplechase meeting under the auspices of the hunt. An excellent steeplechase course had been laid off in one of the home paddocks, a variety of jumps, post and rail, brush and wall, having been erected, and spectators witnessed some very fine jumping ns the field circled the course. Subsequently the pack threw oft 1 and hunted in Mr. and Mrs. Sampson’s, M. E. Jackson’s and Mr. French’s properties. Later an adjournment was made Jo Mr. and Mrs. Sampson’s residence, where members and visitors were hospitably entertained. Mr. A. H. Halcombe, master, in a few appropriate remarks, extended the very hearty thanks of members of the hunt and visitors to Mr. and Mrs. Sampson, for their kindness in inviting the hunt to hold a second meet at their property. Cheers were then given for Mr. and Mrs. Sampson and family.
