MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT.
ANOTHER ALTERATION. At the Hawera Court on Monday, Mr. A. M. Mowlem, S.M., intimated that the Hawera and Manaia Court disiriqts were to be transferred back to the Wanganui magisterial district. Mr. P. O’Dea, in expressing regret at Mr. Mowlem s terminating his conneetion with the Hawera district, referred to the enormous amount of work which Mr. Mowlem had had to attend to, and said! there was no question about it that the Hawera Court was the largest in Taranaki. His Worship: There is no question about that. Continuing, Mr. O’Dea said that the amount of work handled by the Hawera Court was double that done at New Plymouth. Members felt that if Mr. Mowlem was relieved of the Hawera and Manaia Courts he would be well occupied in the remainder of the magisterial district. Then there was difficulty of Mr. Mowlem starting a big vase and not being able to finish it. In reply, Mr. Mowlem said that he regretted having to leave Hawera and Hawera’s work, as it kept a man up-to-date. He had been kept very busy, but the main difficulty he had found had been that occasioned by delays. The Magistrate’s Court should be a place where a speedy settlement of differences could be arrived at, but the delays which had been occasioned by the pressure of work were a phase wßch had troubled him. Mr. Mowlem thanked Mr. O’Dea for his kind word*. ,-w.
