Tn response to a request by the Australian and New’ Zealand Agents’ Association for a reduction of freights on Australasian produce, shipowners replied expressing sympathy with the association’s desire for lower freights, but pointing but that a reduction was only possible when the expenses incidental to steamers visiting, loading and discharging at Australian and New Zealand ports are materially reduced.— Aus.-N.Z.
