The Pierrots’ have decided to give the magnificent cash prize of £25 to the winning team of a tug-of-war to be held in connection with their etforts to assist and replenish the Mayor’s fund, and hope to secure the support of all local bodies. They propose to allocate the prize money as follows: £2O first and £5 second. Five men will comprise a team. The tug-of-war will be open to all comers, of all weights. Each team will be allowed a skip or coach, but only one. The entrance fee is 2s Gd per man or 12s 6d per team. Any five men can make up a team, and it is hoped to get teams from the Harbor Board employees, workers at hydro-works, -Boon Bros., Fire Brigade, and the Pierrots hope every dairy factory that possibly can will send in a nomination. The conditions are a five-minute pull on battens, each man to have a separate batten, also a free rope. Any other particulars can be obtained from Mr. P. J. Flannagan or from Mr. Morgan, hon. secretary of the Pierrots. The Pierrots appeal to the people of New Plymouth to support their efforts as the money raised will be spent in giving work to those in need. A round of the tug-of-war will be pulled every night at the Dixie Land Cabaret, where jazzing and fox-trotting will be going all the week.
