SENSATION IN PARIS. PRESIDENT SHOT AT. aim at wrong carkiage. I A YOUTH ARRESTED, A» attempt was made to assassinate the President of France, M. Millerand. Two carriages containing police officials preceded that of the President in driving through Paris, and a young anarchist fired into one of the leading vehicles, thinkilng it contained M. Millerand. The would-be assassin was arrested, being saved by the police from being lynched by th rowd. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, July 14. Bouvet, an anarchist, attempted to shoot M. Millerand, President of France, whilst he was returning in his carriage to the Elysee Palace. He fired into the wrong carriage. Bouvet was roughly handled and arrested. Several official carriages were proceeding in a procession to the Elysee Palace, when, within a hundred yards of the Palace entrance, Bouvet, who belongs to the young revolutionary Communist organisation, fired three shots at the first carriage. The occupants were not hurt, but a woman bystander was wounded and sent to hospital. M. Millerand occupied the second carriage. Bouvet, who is 22 ars of age, declared it was his intention to shoot M. Millerand. The first motor-car contained M. Naudin, the new Paris prefect of police. The scene of the occurrence was in L’Avenue de Martigny.
