Lloyd’s Register of' quarterly shipbuilding’ returns shows that, deducting 481,000 tons on work has been suspended, the shipping under construction amounts to 1,439,000 tons, which is 310,000 tons below the March quarter and 451.000 tons below the pre-war average tonnage. Building abroad, excluding approximately 545,000 tons in Germany, is 125.000 tons below last quarter. The chief decreases are in Italy, France and Holland.
