BIG CLAIM SETTLED.
USE OF AMERICAN SHIPS. By Tolegrc. —Press Assn.—Copyright. Received July 14, 8.30 p.m. Washington, July 13. The British Government has paid the United States Shipping Board 12 million dollars in settlement of the United States’ claim for 22 million dollars for the use of American ships to earn- cargo shipments during and after the war. The British Government had contended that the United States owed it 26 million dollars on a similar claim, but after a year of negotiations Britain agreed to settle the controversy by the payment of 12 million dollars.—Aus.N.Z.
