The Overseas dub in London tendered a reception to Sir James and Lady Allen on Thursday. Di’. E. W. Ferguson, a native of New Zealand, has been elected president of the Royal Zoological Society of New South Wales.
A London message says that Mr. Pilkington, a West Australian, has been invited to address the Dundee Independent Liberals with a view to contesting the seat against Mr. Churchill. A London cable says it is announced that Lord Northci iff e’s health continues unsatisfactory. His heart i« weaker and an obscure toxic process had not subsided.
Dr. Arnold Gilray, senior resident medical officer of the Napier Hospital, who is going to the Old Country for further experience, has tendered his resignation to the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Board, which was accepted with regret.
Commissioner Hodder, of the Salvation Army, has received instructions from General Booth to farewell from New Zealand in the middle of August, and proceed to his new appointment — the Western Territory of Canada, with headquarters at Winnipeg.
