WEDDING.

PICKERING—STEFFERT. A pretty wedding was solemnised in the Catholic - Church, Hawera, on June 15, when Mr. George Pickering, youngest son of Mrs. Pickering, Hawera, was married to Miss Lily Maud Steffert. third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steffert, of Inaha. The officiating priest was the Rev. Dean Power. The bride, who was escorted to the altar by her brother, Mr. H. P. Steffert, wore a lovely frock of white charmeuse, with panels of silver lace edged with frills of pale pink net, the train of the same material being lined with pale pink net. The bride wore the usual veil and orange blossoms, and carried a bouquet of cream roses and pale pink flowers. She was attended by her sister, Miss Elsie Steffert, who wore a becoming frock of apricot crepe de chine, trimmed with georgette and beads. She also carried a bouquet of white roses and pink flowers. Norah Steffert, sister of the bride, and Jean Laurenson, niece of the bride, were train-bearers, and were dressed in pink muslin, with girdles of silver cord and wreaths of small white flowers on their heads. Mr. Fred Madgwick was best man. After the ceremony a reception and dance were held at the Tawhiti Hall. The bride’s travelling dress was a nigger brown costume. with hat to match. The happy couple left for the South Island, where the honeymoon was spent,—Star.
