At the Magistrate’s Court, Ralph Emery Small was charged with the theft of £32 19s 5d in his possession as officer of the ' Education Department, and further with ; the theft of five sums of money totalling ' £2 10s. Accused pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. “We had no time for an audit,” was ‘ the statement made by an officer of the J department. “There were times when ' accused had some 2000 accounts of indus- I trial school inmates in his charge, and in I the year he handled something like £10,000.” PROTEST AGAINST REMANDS.
