ADMIRAL DUMARESQ.
NO HOPE OF RECOVERY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Manila, July 12. Admiral Dumaresq, until recently in charge of the Australian fleet, who has been ill with pneumonia here for some weeks, is not expected to live 24 hours. The doctors give no hope and say that only his strong constitution has kept him alive so long. Received July 13, 9.30 p.m. Manila, July 12. Admiral Dumaresq, while en route from Australia to Hong Kong, developed pneumonia nearing Manila, and was taken off the ship in a stretcher, being carried to the military hospital by courtesy of the United States Government. He improved after a week’s treatment and prepared to start for a higher altitude for convalescence, when he relapsed. Five physicians are now alternately at his bedside. During six weeks Admiral Dumaresq fluctuated between improvement and relapse and now lung infection has set in, sending poison through the system and reducing resistance. The physicians marvel at his strength of constitution, which from time to time enables him to show remarkable evidences of recovery. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
