BEVAN INTERVIEWED.

WHY HE FLED By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Vienna. July 11. Bevan, recently arrested in- connection with alleged financial frauds in England, in an interview, said he left England solely at the request o-f his wife, who had information that a warrant was being issued. She implored him to spare her disgrace. It was against the principles arid practice of his whole life to flee from trouble. He also knew that flight would prejudice him in the eyes of' the public, and was anxious to come to’ grips with the grave charges. He said he was convinced nothing dishonorable could be proved, and added the alleged falsifi(ation of balance-sheets was an ordinary window-dressing operation.
