S.O.S. FROM SHIP.
SAILER IN TROUBLE. STEAMER GOING TO HELP, M> DETAILS OF MISHAP. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The following wireless message has been received by the Secretary of the Post Office: —“9.136 p.m.: S.O.S. from France, position Lat. 21.28, Longt 165.03; the Canadian Transporter proceeding to help and should arrive at noon on Thursday; other ships have the position.” Another message intercepted read: “Sailing ship France, position nord boulari,” followed by, “Sur recif contrariety position Lat. 21.28, Long*. 165.03 E.” Australian stations are dealing with the matter and the Canadian Transporter is 220 miles south-west of the France and is going to her assistance. The position given is westward, of the Cook Islands. The France is the largest sailing vessel afloat. She made her first trip to New Zealand some time ago to load a cargo of wool for England.
