CROSSBRED WOOLS.
STATEMENT BY ASSOCIATION. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, July 10. B.A.W.R.A. has issued a statement to the effect that the crossbred wool in its hands lias diminished in the last two years by 239 million pounds, while the stocks of Argentine and Uruguay wool decreased during the same period by 131 million pounds. Allowing for all reductions there is an absolute certainty that the world’s supply has diminished by 220 million pounds, possibly 240 to 260 million pounds, after allowance is made for 30 to 50 million pounds increased crossbred stocks in the hands of dealers and manufacturers. B.A.W.R.A. declares that the surplus crossbred wool in the southern hemisphere was almost wiped out in 1921. During 1921 River Plate shipments totalled 633,000 bales, which was double the estimated amount of the next elip. Practically the whole of Australian and .South American crossbred purchases have .been made for Europe, the United ( States taking less than a quarter of her ■usual share. In view of the above facts 8.A.W.R.A., supported by many leading buyers, con- j aiders that some time will be required i to digest recent heavy purchases of | crossbreds, therefore it has decided to withdraw as far as possible all medium and coarse crossbreds from the July to September sales. ’ 1 B.A.W.R.A.’s offerings at the July • sales are: Australasian 28,500 bales: New Zealand 10,400 bales; Cape 46,000 bales; free Australian 44,000 bales; New Zealand, 39,000 bales; Cape 2000 bales; Falklands 2000 bales; Puntas . 18,000 bales.
