ARBITRATION COURT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Timaru. Last Night. Mr. Justice Frazer held a sitting of the Arbitration Court here to-day, but had little to do. An application for a new award foi threshing ihilla, recommended by the Conciliation Council, was withdrawn on the ground that the present was an inopportune time to make a new award, as the industry was practically idle till next February. Three cases' of compensation for injuries sustained in the course of employment were all settled out of court by agreement to accept a lump sum in each case. APPEAL TO PRIVY COUNCIL. Wellington, July 10. The Appeal Court to-day granted leave to appeal to the Privy Council in the National Mutual Life Association v. Smallfield, heard at the last sitting for judgment on June 20. Security was fixed at £5OO. FREEZING WORKERS’ STRIKE. Dunedin, July 10. Contrary to expectations none of the Burnside freezers applied for reinstatement this morning. A meeting of unionists agreed not to start work until the old rate was. reinstated. It is understood that officials of the federation are conferring here.
