BRITISH CAPITAL WANTED.
NEW ZEALAND'S URGENT NEED. Speaking at the meeting between Major E. A. Belcher and Wellington’s business men, Mr. A. L. Hunt stated that the Dominion’s greatest need was population, but in order to sustain a larger papulation our industries had to be developed, and to do that our resources must be exploited, and English capital was wanted to do that. He referred not so much to what was kaowa
as our primary products, but more par* ticularly to the great deposit across the strait of what was said to be the finest iron ore in the world; of the marble, be« lieved to rival that of Italy, and other mineral resources. It was also said, that there was no country in the world of its size with silch wonderful sources of hydro-electric energy. All, then, that was wanted was capital, and it should be welcomed instead of being harassed and discouraged.
