ORIGINAL VERSE.

WONDERFUL WIRELESS. Wonderful wireless no eye can see You Rearing your message across the sea, Yet Swiftly you speed In the hour of need Over the turbulent, roaring waves, Over the low-lying ocean caves. While the good ship lies in the throes of death, And the people watch with, bated breath. Watch, and wait, Dreading lest death should open the gate And give them a grave ’Neath the stormy wave. Down where the ship-wrecked mariners g°> Down where the fishes and mermaids grow. But the wireless cal) with lightning speed Goes forth for aid in the hour of need, Searching the waters far and wide Seeking and searching on every side. And all who receive the call obey, With instant dispatch they hasten away. There is work to do, there are lives to save For the sea holds ever an open grave, And ever she raves, and ever she craves For more, and more, to fill her graves. So full speed ahead they steam for the wreck Where the people crowd on the sinking deck. God in his mercy grant that all May be saved from death by the wireless call. --C.M. Upper Mangorei, June 28, 1922.
