Anderson and Lycett defeated Bisseker and Hillyard, 6—l, 6—2, 6—3; Gilbert beat Mavrogordato, 6—4, 3—6, 6 —3, 3—6 7—2. He meets Lycett in the semifinal. Anderson is a strong favorite for the championship. Most critics forecast that quieter method is likely to give him a comfortable victory over Patterson's more spectacular and slashing style. THE DAVIS CUP. AUSTRALIA’S NEXT MATCH. London, July 6. The Czecho-Slovakia Davis Cup team to compete in the matches is Ardelt, Macdnauer and Rohrer. Their best player, Denla, is unable to come. None have even been seen in England before, and all are inexperienced on grass courts. The Australians are expected to have an easy task. ,
