OLD BOYS’ BALL.
LAST NIGHT'S FUNCTION. A BRILLIANT SUCCESS. The Boys’ High School assembly hall bore a gay and festive appearance last night on the occasion of the Old Boys’ fourth annual ball. The hall, usually bare and cold, had been transformed into a fairyland. Multicolored streamers, suspended from a decorated hoop, formed the central feature iu an artistic scheme of decorations. The white pillars were tastefully encircled with green ivy, whilst the same decoration was arranged along the sides of the balconies. The stage was decorated with tree ferns, whilst bright-colored balloons were suspended from various points, adding a carnival touch to the whole scheme.
The hall was crowded with dancers and the pretty frocks of the ladies and the more sombre evening dress of the gentlemen added the final effects to a most brilliant scene of gaiety and festivity. The floor was in excellent order. Mrs. George’s jazz orchestra supplied the music, which was very favorably commented on. The decorations in the supper room were the work of Miss Mavis Roekel and Miss Alison Greig. The tables had been prettily garlanded with pink camelias and maidenhair fern, with rose-colored shades softening the electric lights.
