BIG STRIKE.
STOPPAGE IN AMERICA. less.pay resented, OVER MILLION INVOLVED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received July 7, 9 p.m. New York, July 6. The Labor Department at Washington has announced that 1,228,000 men are striking against the wage reductions, as follows: Coal-miners, 728,000; textile workers, 80,000; railway men, 400,000; smaller strikes, 20,000. The Labor Department believes that if these strikes continue for any length of time the secondary workers in industries dependent upon the major industries will be thrown out of work.—Aus.N. 4-.
