The Federal Government is establishing a chain of laboratories throughput the Commonwealth with the object of supporting the efforts of the State authorities in diagnosing diseases, and! safeguarding the health of the comma*-* ity by bacteriological tests. NEW STATES SCHEME. Received July 5, 11.20 p.m. Sydney, July 6. The new States conference has terminated. A number of resolutions dealing with the powers of new States and the Commonwealth were deleted antf otherg were held over for a further conference dealing with Federal territories. A motion was carried affirming thqprinciple that each new State should formulate its own constitution, which. could not be altered except by the co*-, sent of the electors by a referendum s*2f subject to the sanction of the Federal t Parliament. DE-CONTROL OF MEAT. Received July 5, 11.20 p.m. Sydney, July 5. The Profiteering Prevention Court ! granted an application of the Retailutehers’ Association for the de-control of meat in the metropolitan area, but* warned the trade that an increase in prices would result in the”restoration of the schedule.
