FREE LABOR REPLACES STRIKERS. By Telegraph.—Press Association Timaru, Last Night. The Smithfield and Pareora works got going to-day with free labor, each with four teams of thirteen. It took some time to get all working, but at both works the applicants were nearly all intelligent young men and they picked up their respective duties well. Each works killed 700 in a short day. Everything was cleaned up and the skina painted. It is expected to do 1000 to 1200 to-morrow. Plenty of stock. is available. Two union butchers joined in at Pareora. The resumption of work was entirely without incident.
