Ernest Techow, one of the men arrested in connection with the murder of Dr. Rathenau, admitted he was aware of a plot xto assassinate Dr. Rathenau, and he drove the car from which the shots were fired. Herr Ebert has issued a decree stating that members of secret societies planning to murder prominent people are liable to the death penalty or penal servitude for life. Anybody knowing the existence of such societies is liable to penal servitude if he does not inform the authorities or does not warn anyone threatened thereby.—Reuter Service.
Heiferrich has fled from Berlin for an unknown destination. Excitement prevails in provincial towns, where furious mobs are invading monarchists’ houses and throwing pictures and busts of the ex-Kaiser into the streets.
