HINTS TO DAIRYMEN. SYHAT ARE DR. RING’S ABORTOIDS? Abortoids are the result of long and careful investigation by a successful New Zealand veterinarian, and have stood the test of every-day practice amongst dairy cattle for a number of years, and they are now placed on the market as a commercial proposition at an extremely low cost. We do not claim absurd results; but we do claim that they have proved the most suitable and efficient method devised jto take the place of douching, or, as commonly spoken of, as washing the cow after calving. They contain an antiseptic -neither “poisonous” or “irritating,” yet so strong that its germicidal properties are greater than carbolic acid nearly five times. They are so constituted that when placed inside the cow they are dissolved by the animal heat, and adhere to the walls, so that they exert an antiseptic effect for many hours after their insertion. When an abortoid has been placed in the wom’b after calving' it not only softens and renders the after-birth most easy to come away, but by its antiseptic properties keeps down the putrefaction of the afterbirth. When abortoids are used in conjunction with Dr. Ring’s Cow Drench, the results are extremely gratifying. A packet given two days before calving will reduce milk fever to a minimum. As a cleansing drench it is unequalled. For indigestion, colds, scouring or general unthriftiness, a half packet in warm water is remarkably efficacious. Dr. Ring’s Cattle Remedies are manufactured from nothing but pure drugs, and comply with the Pure Food and Drug Laws. Cow drench, 1/6 per packet; Abortoids, 5s per dozen (in boxes of a dozen).
