PEDIGREE JERSEYS.
STRATFORD JERSEY CLUB. PRICES AT YESTERDAY'S SALE .. MARKET VERY SLACK. A sale of pedigree Jersey cattle was held at the Stratford A. & I’, grounds, yesterday, tinder the auspices of the Stratford Jersey Cattle Club, the market being slow and weak. Of 73 cattle catalogued, only 33 were sold, a number not being submitted on account of the unfavorable trend of prices, while some of the entries did not come forward. No male cattle were submitted. Although some fair prices were realised for the best cattle, the sale as a whole showed a . considerable decline on recent prices. It must be remembered, however, that several large sales have taken place in the district during the week, and therefore the demand for- high-grade cattle may have been temporarily satisfied. •The sale was conducted by Messrs. Newton lung, Ltd., the auctioneers being Messrs. K. Kirk and S. Williams. Before the sale commenced, Mr. F. Ranford (president of the Stratford Jersey Cattle Club) explained that an inspection committee had been set up to inspect all the cattle submitted with the object of offering to the public those cattle which were as near to type as possible. Several-cattle were rejected by the inspection committee, and although they were put up to auction, only one or two of these were sold, and that subject to inspection.
