NEW PLYMOUTH COUNCIL. ACCEPTANCE OF TENDERS. A special meeting of the New Plymouth Borough Council was held yesterday afternoon, the Mayor (Mr- F. E. Wilson) presiding. There were also present: Crs. J. Kibby, J. Brown, V. Griffiths, T. N. Blackball, R. A. Large, W. Rumball, E. Dingle, R. L. Parkin. The principal business was the aeoep#ance of tenders and these were dealt with as follows: — For the formation on Waiwaka Terrace four tenders were received, and that of W. J. Anstis at £350 was accepted for forming the road the full • width of 25 feet. Several tenders for pipes, valves, etc., in connection with the water-works ex-! tension were received, and that of Briscoe and Co., Wellington, at £1779 was < accepted, the pipes to be shipped by direct boat to New Plymouth. The engineer stated that the tenders were lower than anticipated and he suggested that additional piping and valves, etc., be ordered to make up the difference between the present price and that at the time the estimates were drawn up. Thia would enable some of the extensions cut out previously to be reinstated. The suggestion was adopted and an additional 30 tons of piping and valves will be included.
