HUNTING.
TO-DAY'S MEET. The North Taranaki Hunt will meet to-day at the Kennells, Sentry Hill, where there is some first-class hunting country. The fences have all been sparred, and a good day’s sport should result. This country, not only from Its proximity to town, but also from its natural advantages, should prove idea to those wishing to qualifj’ horses for the forthcoming annual meeting, which takes place on September 2, and is succeeded by the Egmont meeting on September 6 at Hawera. A splendid programme has been drawn up comprising a Hunters’ Flat, one mile and a quarter; Hunters’ Maiden Steeplechase, of 100 sovs., about two miles; Hunters’ Hurdle, Race, of 90 sovg., one mile and a half; and the Hunt Club Cup Steeplechase, of 150 sovs. in specie and a 20 guineas- cup, over two miles and a half. There are also three hack races and an open flat race.
