THEFTS FROM A WRECK.
FOUR MEN ADMIT GUILT. CAUGHT ON THE WILTSHIRE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Four fishermen, who were arrested at thje Great Barrier for theft from the wreck of the Wiltshire on June 6, came before Mr. Poynton, S.M., to day. They were Alfred Christian Larsen (29) and James Sinclair Shirley (33), of the launch Spray, and Alfred Williams (40) and Henry Billyeald (35), of the launch Waimumu. According to the evidence of a Customs official (Frederick Abercrombie) and Sergeant Flanigan, who were on doty at the Barrier and made a surprise visit by launeb to the wreck at midnight on June 6, they found the Spray and the Waimumu lying on the leeward side of the wreck, and they boarded them. On the Spray they found stowed in the hold a suitcase with some blankets attached to it, and containing e. clock and a compass, while in the Waimumu they found some electroplate ware. At Tryhena a suitcase was found to contain clothing belonging to the captain, the chief, second and third officers. All accused pleaded guilty and were committed for sentence.
