AUSTRALIAN LABOR.
ATTEMPT AT UNITY. PROTRACTED DEBATE LIKELY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Melbourne, June 29. At the All-Australia Labor Conference an attempt was made to bring about unity by the appointment of a committee to draft a motion regarding policy, consisting of three representatives of the militant section, and three of the section favoring the Brisbane decision. The Conference is wrestling with the thorny problem of the socialisation of industries. The speeches disclosed considerable opposition to the adoption of the original resolution carried at th# Brisbane Conference. Several amendments were moved. The debate, which was interlarded with many appeals for the urgent need of unity in the Labor ranks to meet the existing conditions, is likely to be protracted. *
