The teX at the sales was of good average, hut generally speaking the tea was .not UP. to the average of the last. two years. -..The demand for the best classes was gootfc but ordinary was difficult to sell, except ai. the reduction of half to one anna. The- earn-:. monest leaf ranged from seven annas~.--.tO;. seven annas six pice; ordinary common Pekoe Souchong from eight annas to eight . annas? : six pice; better classes to nine annas. ; TARANAKI SAiES. Messrs. Newton King, Ltd., report At Douglas on June 19 sheep were in fair suppl y and prices were quite those latterly ruling. Cattle sold mostly on a. par with, late rates, young steers If anything showing a slight improvement. Lambs 10s 9d, 13s 4d, 4-tootli ewes 15s' 6d,' full-mouth ewes 12s id, 6-too-th wethers 16s, 18s 9d, store cows 15s, 21s, weaner heifers 265, £2, in-calf heifers £0 15s, 20-month steers 355, £2 2s; 2%-’ year-old steers £2 ss. At Stony River on the 20th inst. a small yarding changed hands at late rates. We quote: Store pigs 17s, yearling steers 16s 6d r ' yearling heifers 235, 255, 375, in-calf heifers £4 17s 6d, in-calf cows £4, £5, springing cows £7 ss, £lO ss, £ll 10s, cows calved £7 10s; £l2. At Wiaiwakaifao on June 22 a fair yarding was practically all disposed of. Weaner heifers brought 265, choice quality weaner heifers £2 4s, empty cows £2, £2 2s. 6d, fat- cows £2 10s, springing cows £lO 10s, £ll 10s, £l3 10s. At Ohura on the same day we had a fair yarding of sheep, and report a good sale of good breeding ewes. Cattle were in weak demand. Two and 4-tooth ewes made 243 4d,. 6 and 8-tooth ewes 18s 4d, m.a. ewes 9s 3d, yearling steers 18s 6d, 20-month steers 375, 2%-year-old steers £2 Is, £2 17s, springing cow £l3. We have conducted the following clearing, sales and report aS follows: On account of Mr. W. H. Bishop, at Hillsborough, on June 19. the herd of 36 cows met with good competition and averaged £ll 2s. A draught gelding realised £34 10s, gig mare £l4, draught mare £34 10s. Implements and sundries made good prices. On the 20th Inst., on account of Mr. C. J. O'Hanlon, the herd of 28 cows in all made the satisfactory average of £l2. In-calf heifers made from £9 to £l5. Implements and sundries sold particularly well. On the same day at Okoke 48 cows on account of the estate of the late W. B. Colson made the comparatively high average of £l2 12s, in-calf heifers £6, £9 10s. At Koru, on June 21, oh account of Messrs. Barkla Bros., a satisfactory clearance was effected, the best cows making from £lO to £l4. On account of R. Caj-ey, Kapuni, on the same day, implements, sundries and cows all sold well, the cows making up to £l7. On account of H. Hane sonr., Te Popo, on the same day, herd of 40 cows realised up to £l7. -averaging £lO 13s. Implements and sundries were satisfactorily disposed of. LOCAL MARKET PRICES.
