WAITARA.

ANOTHER FIRE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) June 27. At 11.15 p.m. on Monday evening, the residents were again aroused by the fire alarm, the Tikorangi Rowing Club shid being found ablaze. The shed is situated on the bank of hte river and on the south side of the bridge. The shed contained 13 boats, which were all destroyed, while the building was practically gutted. The Clifton Club were storing their boats in the shed, to give room in their hall. The boats as well as the building were uninsured. GENERAL ITEMS. The annual meeting of subscribers to the Tikorangi Public Hall was held on Monday evening last, Mr. J. Vickery (the chairman) presiding. The following committee for the ensuing year was elected: Messrs. J. Vickery, H. G. Hicks, A. Allen, I. Vickery, and H. A. Foreman. Mr. Vickery was re-elected chairman; Mr. Hicks, secretary of hall committee; and Mr. Allen, secretary to euchre party committee; Mr. L. Fault, auditor. The funeral of Mr. Jas. Rennie was held on Sunday afternoon, a large following of residents of Waitara paying thair last respects. The Mayor and councillors and Fire Brigade attended, and the Rev. Father Dillon officiated at the graveside, and at the conclusion of the religious ceremony made reference to Mr. Rennie’s many good qualities.
