THE TAUPO SHAKES.

POSTMISTRESSES’ DEVOTION TO DUTY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. When the earthquakes in the. Taupe district became more severe about a fortnight ago, permission was given to the postmistresses at Waarakei and Oruanui to leave their posts if they i wished to do so. It seems, however, that they have both preferred to remain on duty. Professor Marsden, who is continuing his investigation into the disturbances, mentions this fact in a communication to the P. and T. Department, and eulogises their devotion to duty. He adds that their work has been of undoubted value to him.
