A NEW AWARD SOUGHT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last A dispute between the Union Steamship £o. and the Institute of Marine Engineers came before the Conciliation Council to-day. The Union Company sought a new award and an application was made to add a number of smaller shipping companies to the dispute. Captain Peterson, on behalf of the Shipowners’ Federation, applied for the exemption of small boats from the proceedings and the application to add th© parties was referred to the Court. As no agreement could be come to with respect to wages this matter was also referred to the Court for decision. The marine engineers’ and employers* representatives discussed the various clauses of the claims and counter-claims in committee. An agreement was reached on some minor points, but the mos* important details were referred to th» Arbitration Court.
