TRAMS TO WESTOWN.

MORLEY STREET ROUTE ADOPTED. COUNCIL’S UNANIMOUS DECISION. The report of the electrical engineer (Mr. R- H. Bartley) dealing with the proposed routes for the tramways to Westown was before the New Plymouth Borough Council last night. The engineer reviewed the relative merits ol the Cutfield Road and Morley Street routes, he being of the opinion that the Morley Street route was preferable. The Mayor (Mr. F. E. Wilson) said he did not propose to discuss the report, but moved its adoption forthwith. Cr- T. N. Blackhall seconded, and the motion was can-led unanimously. This will mean that the engineer’s estimate will be based on the Morley Street route. Questioned by a Daily News reporter as to the feasibility of taking the trams via Morley Street, thence along Barrett Street to Cutfieid Road, and along Cutfield Road to Tukapa Street, as advocated at the last meeting of the Westown Progressive Association, Cr. Blackball, in whose hands the association left the matter, said the claim of this slight deviation from the route would probably not be considered further on account of the extra bends and consequent inconvenience with the overhead gear, and because another stop would have to be provided. Presumably then the route will be via Morley Street to WaJJace Place and thence along Tukapa Street
