FARMERS’ CLASSES.

A HELPFUL SUGGESTION. At .Saturday’s meeting of the Strata ford A. a.d P. Association Mr. A. H. R« Amess, Director of the Stratford Technical High School, said that at the school there was equipment for laborstory work, and he thought the Associfction might have some advantage of the laboratory. Perhaps during the September holidays it might be possible to arrange a week’s classes for young farmers. Such classes had been held with advantage in other centres, and he thought that if they were held in Stratford they would be a great benefit to the farming community and to the Association. It might be possible to secure the help of expert# in the various lines from the Department. There should not be much expense attached to attending the classes, and milking should not be very heavy at the time. Young farmers could attend the .clavate —and old farmers, too, if they washed. He mentioned the matter so that the Association could look into it. The classes would deal with the chemistry of farm work. As the president had said the Association should stand for something more than the holding of a show, and the suggested classes was one direction in which the Association could extend its activities for the benefit of farmers generally. The chairman said the suggestion seemed to be an excellent one. 7 Mr. Hbnt said the classes were held at Feilding and were very useful. They would tend to hold members together in addition to being beneficial to memhara individually.

The Chairman: I suppqsg there would be some fee?

Mr. Amess said he thought the classes would be free.

It was decided to recommend the conw inittee to consider the matter
