There was a large gathering of buyers from all parts of South Taranaki. Bidding was very spirited, and a most successful sale resulted as follows: PEDIGREE COWS Patty, by K.C.B. out of Primrose 32nd. 30 guineas; Mr. Geo. Cowling, Manaia. Compensation, by Jerseybank Ringman out of Gold Maid, 16 gns.; Mr. Jas. Nicholson, Kaupokonui. Pedigree Jersey calf (Golliwogg), by Jerseybank Ringman out of Grateful, 10 guineas; Mr. Jas. Nicholson, Kaupokonui. Pedigree Jersey bull (Jerseybank Ringman), by Jerseybank Royalty out of Pretty Polly, 20 gns.; Mr. Hector Taylor, Hawera. The grade cows, which were in great buckle, sold exceptionally well from £ll to £24, and the average, which to the auctioneers’ knowledge is the best in Taranaki to date, for the 23 cows, was £l4 18s per head. The in-calf heifers sold from £6 10s tc £l5 10s, and the grade yearling heifers from £5 5s to £5 10s. A milk cart horse realised £36 10s, and a half-draught horse £34—exceptionally good prices.
