EAST END RESERVE.

THE ANNUAL MEETING. STRONG COMMITTEE ELECTED. The annual meeting of the East End Reserve Committee was held last night, Mr. S, G. Smith, M.P., presiding over a large attendance of members, including a number of ladies. Mr. Smith said the large attendance was an indication of increased interest in the) work of the committee. Most people would agree that a vast amount of good work had been done in this portion of the town. There was no finer wdrk done in the Dominion than that at the Kawaroa Park, and there was no reason why the same facilities, especially for the children, should not be provided at the East End. The chairman of the committee (Mr. A. R. Davis) said the committee entered office with practically no credit balance, and at the end of the rear the credit in the bank amounted to £124. This balance would not have been shown had not the state of the seafront been what it was. He agreed with the public comment that they had done very little. Very few of the old. committee had remained loyal, but he would like to see the old committee return to see through the work they were now engaged upon. He thanked the ladies’ committee which had so loyally come to their assistance, and the social i committee. He formally / moved the 1 adoption of the annual report and bal-ance-sheet.

The statement of receipts and expenditure showed the income for the year to be £6U6 8s 9d, the chief items in which were the proceeds of socials and dances £237 4s lid and picnics £ll3 2s Id.
