MOVE TO REDUCE WAGES. ATTITUDE OF TARANAKI EMPLOYERS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Last Night. Protracted negotiations between the representatives of the National Dairy Association, acting on behalf of dairy factory shareholders generally, and the representatives of the New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers’ Association, concerning the ukase of Taranaki employers to reduce the wages of managers by 10 per cent, on butter and 15 per cent, on cheese, resulted, after a motion had previously been negatived, in the annual meeting of the Managers’ Association agreeing to accept a 5 per eent. reduction on butter and 7Vz per cent, on cheese, the reductions providing a minimum salary of £225. The National Dairy Association’s delegates, on this decision being conveyed to them, regretted they could not depart from the terms of the original proposal. as the hands of the Taranaki delegates were tied by their association. Mr. Arthur Morton (chairman of the National Dairy Association) said its executive would no doubt he prepared to discuss the matter further after they bad formally been notified of the terms of the resolution.
