DISTRICT NEWS.

AUROA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Services were held last Sunday afternoon and evening, the occasion being the anniversary of the Methodist Church, and on Tuesday the annual tea in connection with the same in the Auroa Hall, visitors being present from all parts of the district. After tea the committee provided a very good concert programme, which was greatly appreciated. The following contributed: Mr. Robinson (clarinet solo), “The Rod Smith’s Quartette Party,” “The Manaia Quartette Party,” hit. Anderson, Rua Smith, Mr. Brown, Miss Holland, Mrs. Davidson, Miss Aroa, Mr. Wills, Miss Davidson, and Miss Farquahr, being interspersed with games in between, after which supper was provided, thus concluding one of the most successful anniversaries of the Church, which Is now 16 years old. The hall committee are busy making improvements to the hall, approaches which were badly needed, also fixing up the floor and we understand the hall is to be painted. It will then be in keeping with the church, school, and. other buildings of the township. The milk supply is now very small, but the tests are the same, which should not be. I am informed of some farmers supplying small amounts of milk and their tests going down six and eight points, which to the lay farmer should go up. There appears to be much dissatisfaction and the opinion is that there will be a movement to get back the Government test. Perhaps some of our managers may be able to give some explanation. I have to report the severe illness of Mr. Duff (senior), who is in the Hawera Hospital, but who is now progressing favorably and will be returning home shortly. His many friends wish him a speedy recovery. The weather for the past week has been beautiful.
