THE REFORM PARTY.

THE TARANAKI SEAT. The annual meeting of the New Plymouth branch of the Reform Party was held last night, Mr. A. E. Washer presiding over an attendance of about 25 members. Mr. C. E. Bellringer, the Reform Party’s candidate, was also present. The chairman mentioned that it was about three years since a general meeting of the branch had been held, and no annnd meetings had been held since. Now the general elections were facing them, and the old executive thought it best that a meeting of. Reform supporters .should be held to form a strong executive to help Mr. C. E. Bellringer in his candidature and try to put him at the top of the poll in the election to be held at the end of the year. The speaker hoped that Mr. Massey would be again returned with a big majority. (Applause.) The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. A. E. Washer; Messrs. H. C. Sampson and R. H. Quil-« liam; executive, Messrs. G. W. Browne, J. J O. Taylor, F. H. Jellyman, W. B. Grand, 1 R. C. Hughes, E. Hine, J. Hoskin, J. Butti- 1 more, J. Gibson, F. A moo re, and J. Mo-} ■ Cracken, with power to add; secretary, Mr. E. L. Humphries; treasurer, Mr. Edgar Hine. It was decided that chairmen of Reform committees in other parts of the electorate should later be added to the executive. On the motion of Mr. Browne, seconded by Mr. Taylor, it was resolved to makei representations to the Premier asking hiari to visit the electorate at his earliest con-' venience. The suggestion was made thatMr. Massey should come before election-; time. The chairman indicated that a dicuesion should be held on the question of the best way to conduct the campaign. These • proceedings were not open to the Press, but subsequently the following resolution passed was made known, viz.: “That this meeting re affirms the choice of Mr. Bellringer as candidate for this electorate.”
