TRAGEDY IN THE AIR.
PASSENGER KILLS PILOT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received June 18, 5.5 p.m. Paris. June 16. The Intransigeant states the aviation accident at Folkestone on June 3 was due to a demented passenger shooting the pilot, whose body shows a bullet wound in the back of the head.-— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. A Frendh aeroplane flying from London to Paris nosedived into the sea from a height of 2000 ft. three miles from Folkestone. A crowded Channel steamer went at full speed to the rescue and picked up the mutilated bodies of two passengers, Dr. Ley, a leading London surgeon, and a Frenchman. The French pilot’s body was not recovered.
