GREAT FIRE.
AT SEASIDE RESORT. MANY PLACES BURNED. THOUSANDS HOMELESS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received June 16, 9.50 p.m. New York, June 16. The wind whipped a fire at the seaside resort of Averne, Long Island, near the city, and burned four hundred buildings, including many hotels. Sixty persons were injured and 20,000 left temporarily homeless. The fire razed half a square mile and did damage to the extent of 4,000,000 dollars.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
