INCREASING SETTLEMENT.

Cabinet has decided to proceed with its proposals to increase the number of holdings at Yanco to the maximum of nine thousand. This will take three years, and in the meantime it is proposed to push ahead with the preliminary work on the Murray irrigation areas, which it is hoped will eventually provide for twenty-five to thirty thousand settlers. Mr. W. M. Hughes and State Ministers have commenced a conference on the land settlement question. The proceedings are in camera.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
