THE MOASCAR CUP

SECONDARY TEACHERS’ OBJECTION COMPETITION TO PROCEED The New Zealand. Rugby Union difi* ouesed at Tuesday's meeting the reao* lution passed by the New Zealand Secondary School Teachers* Association I Conference, to the effect that, while fully appreciating the sentimental reasons attaching to the Moasc&r Cup, presented to N.Z.R.F.U. by the New Zealand Mounted Division in Egypt, for competition amongst the secondary schools, the conference considered that such a competition was detrimental to the beat interests of the pupils, and that the Rugby Union be asked to utilise the cup for another purpose. Mr. S. S. Dean greatly regretted th® attitude taken up by the Secondary School Teachers' Conference. It had been hoped that the Moascar Cup competition would be regarded as the “blue riband” of New Zealand school Rugby football. Mr. A. C. Kitto said that the letter conveying the resolution had come too late. He moved that the Secondary School Teachers’ Association be informed of that fact; that entries had already been received from secondary 4 schools for this season’s competition, and it had been decided to go on with the scheme. Further, that the teachers be asked for their hearty co-operation this year. Eight entries have so far been received, and these were referred to the Moascar Cup Committee.
