EVERYBODY’S. “A LAW UNTO HERSELF”—TONIGHT. Louise Glaum, who has made herself famous in such features as “The Leoard Woman,” “Sex,” etc., finds complete expression in her latest stalling attraction “A Law Unto Herself,” at Everybody’s to-night. This Associated Producers’ feature is a wonderful story of mother love in the seething turmoil of war. It throws a spotlight on the methods of the wily Hun, and the inborn patriotism of the French women that spurred them to face degredation and suffering for the country they loved better than themselves. “A Law Unto Herself” is one of the most powerful stories of its kind that have ever been screened. Owing to the special feature “Conflict” coming to-morrow “A Law Unto Herself” will be shown for tonight only. The censor has recommended this picture for axiult audiences. “CONFLICT” THURSDAY-FRIDAY. With a mighty roar, the dam blew up and the mighty volume of log-laden water rushed down the ravine. Crunching, crushing, tumbling and tossing, the logs, thousands of them, swept onward—destroying everything in their path. A mile down the valley lay Jevona, the courageously, helplessly bound, in the path of the log-flood. Beside the. broken dam stood the red-lipped/ Dorcas, watching -the fighting lumbermen, watching the freedom-crazed waters, little suspecting that her sweetheart lay below, doomed by the torrent she herself had unleashed by dynamiting the dam. Then she learned what she had done! Never was there such a race as that between the maid and the maddened waters. A wild dash by horseback -to catch the crest of the flood. Then, perilous log riding in the midst of the tumult. How the love-inspired girl rescues her sweetheart from the jaws of a cataract is one of the greatest thrills ever seen on the screen. Priscilla Dean does it in “Conflict,” which is coming to Everybody’s this Thursday and Friday. “"Conflict” and Priscilla Dean is a great combination and record business has resulted in all the cities. Box plans are now open at Collier’s. THE PEOPLE’S. LAST NIGHT OF “SHAME.” The new programme which was shown at The People’s last night is one which will maintain the high standard set at this popular picture house. The star film was “Shame,” a William Fox super attraction, which tells a dramatiq story of a man, who, believing he has| all unwittingly wrecked the life of hisl beautiful wife and given his innocentj baby a heritage of shame, takes the; child and flees. He goes to Alaska super-sensitive, seeks refuge from the scorn of civilised mankind, for himself, and his offspring, in the snow-clad wilds of the -interior. This man, who served Fielding’s father abroad and brought the son safely to San Francisco, undertakes to guide the desperate woman to the frozen region to which he learns, his employer has gone. The scenes amid the snowwastes 'of Alaska include a most real-4 istie fight with wolves. The mystery concerning his dread secret ie cleared up in a sensational manner. It has been acclaimed by critics and the public as a remarkable photoplay, and it is certainly astounding in theme, sensation- 1 ally entertaining and roost picturesque in treatment. The final screening takes} place to-night.
