TASMANIAN ELECTIONS.
MODERATES ALARMED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Hobart, June 13. The election position is still obscure and it is expected that the checking and counting of absent votes will be completed on Thursday' and quotas struck. The Premier, interviewed, states the results to date are disappointing. Moderate electors, alarmed at the possibility of the Country Party obtaining the balance of power, swung over to Labor, which is torn with dissension and would not have polled so heavily if confronted by a united Anti-Socialist Party. The only course now was to throw the responsibility on the Country Party to say whether it would assist in maintaining a stable Government %r three years, or have a fresh appeal to the electors in a few months.
